Casting is well and truly underway on Last ATAK Pictures first feature film 'The Musicals', with some of the leading roles having been cast and seeing the return of actors from films of Last ATAK Pictures past.
Ben Brennan - Ben plays the romantic leading role of Tim Luther, the henpecked boyfriend of Trisha Stockwell and love interest for Rosa Musical. Tim interest in Rosa not only threatens his relationship with the volatile Trisha, but also the structure of the community at large.
Ben first worked with Last ATAK Pictures on Robbie Graham's The Silent Voice in 2002 and is looking forward to the challenge of The Musicals.
Katie Lockett - Katie will be remembered from the award-winning short film Autumn Heart where she played the mysterious leading role of Lara. In The Musicals she plays Michelle, one of Trisha's closest friends who together with Caitlin and Lawrence takes great pride in their dislike of Rosa.
Darren McAree - Darren plays the self-proclaimed and internationally certified greatest man to have ever lived: Judah. Judah is a pop star, movie actor, novelist, humanitarian and legend has it he is also the grounds keeper to the Gardens of Babylon. In the film Judah is coming to town for a very special concert that anyone who is anyone will be attending. Darren has appeared in every Last ATAK Pictures film, and is excited to be playing this small, but vital, role.
Among the returning talent are a wealth of new faces. Joining that cast is young Sally Keeler who will be playing the role of Kelly Ironside, the school bully and tormentor of the youngest of the Musical family Malcolm, who will be played by Liam Kennerley. Unlike the other members of his family, Malcolm refuses to sing wishing to appear as 'normal' as he can at school, though that is not enough for Kelly. In fact the role of Malcolm was written especially for Liam as writer/director Andrew Davidson knew of his dancing proficiency.
The actor David Bowen has also been added to the cast.
Casting will continue over the coming weeks in the build up to the start of principle photography in the first quarter of 2005. Further casting announcements as they happen.
