On Saturday 12th July 2003 the 1000th Student Screen ticket was bought at the
Odeon in Stoke-on-Trent. The ticket was purchased by Anthony Taylor who may be the luckiest man alive.
Anthony is so lucky in fact that 'The Breakfast Club' was his first time to a Student Screen showing. He thinks the whole thing is a great idea and winning the contest, that he questionably didn't know about anyway, has only made his love for Student Screen greater.
Anthony can remember when he first saw the original Star Wars - in itself an oft requested film for Student Screen - he queued all day through three county borders, but knew it was worth it as soon as he heard the title music. An experience he only half repeated with the 'Breakfast Club' (he didn't have to queue through county borders!)
Of all the prizes on offer, Mr Taylor chose the 'Darkness Falls' Illuminous torch, 'Johnny English' T-Shirt, the 3 books, 'The Ring' Mouse mat and the 'Charlie's Angels' DVD. Anthony Taylor also received a season pass that will enable him to see the next season of Student Screen free of charge.
Another winner was Marc Williams who received a special prize for outstanding service to the cause and he chose exclusive Matrix postcards and a DreamCatcher T-Shirt. Marc has so far been to every Student Screen showing and travels two hours to get there. Well done Marc!
The future of Student Screen has been assured for another season, as the increased success of recent films has allowed for another list to be drawn up. Student Screen organizers Andrew Elkin and Mark Allen are currently discussing suggestions to come up with an equally strong season, which they hope to confirm soon.
