STUDENT SCREEN II LISTINGS // 07.03.2003
With the successful first season of Student Screen finishing soon, here's an exclusive look at the future. This list is exclusive to the Last ATAK Pictures web site and is presented to you before it's publication at ODEON.

The first season of Student Screen at the ODEON in Stoke-on-Trent was met with a great response and has surprised all. The event is the brainchild of Andrew Elkin and Andrew Davidson who wanted to see 'classic' films from the 80's and 90's and independent films with a small distribution pattern on the big screen and offered the idea to the manager of the ODEON as a project that the two could manage. Student Screen opened it's doors on Saturday 8th February with Donnie Darko and has built great word of mouth from there.

Even before the success of The Goonies on March 1st, it had been suggested that the programme be extended, though the huge turnout for that film made it a certainty. 'I'm pleased with the initial success of Student Screen,' says General Manager Andrew Price, 'and look forward to it continuing for many months.'

The new season is as follows:

Saturday 29th March:  Top Gun (12A)
Saturday 5th April:       The Lost Boys (15)
Saturday 12th April:     Coming to America (15)
Saturday 19th April:     Raiders of the Lost Ark (PG)
Saturday 26th April:     The Terminator (15)
Saturday 3rd May:       Back to the Future (PG)

Andrew Elkin feels that this season is even stronger that the previous one, 'We've got some more great films. More this time that will pull in the same numbers as The Goonies did. Not that it's about the numbers, but I think that we've got more films that people really want to see. I can't wait for Coming to America! Maybe only because Andy [Davidson] doesn't like Eddie Murphy.'

Andrew Davidson refused to comment on the Eddie Murphy situation and was more philosophical about the impending season,'You can never tell. You really don't know what an audience will go for. I'm happy that people are enjoying what we're doing as much as we are.' To which Elkin - always the man of last words - offered, 'Hey, how about Beverly Hills Cop next time?'

There is a good chance that there will be more Student Screen seasons so if you are in the area and want to see a film, email us and we'll try and arrange it: Student Screen.
