Not Something I'd Normally Do
On Sunday 1st February 2004 Director Andrew Davidson met with Composer Steven Coltart to sit down and 'spot the film'; the process of discussing where music should be used in the film, what form it should take and what emotions need to be supported in the score. The director and composer had previously collaborated on Autumn Heart and were keen to explore new territory in Quondam.
This session took place the morning after the addition photography and was the first time that anyone had seen the completed cut of the film which had been completed over night.
Steven Coltart composed the score over the following four weeks, developing the sounds and tone of the music through notes from the director and internet conferencing.
